Who Is God?
God
is the Creator. God created you and has authority over your destiny. The
Bible states, “. . . for we shall all stand before the judgment
seat of God”
Romans 14:10. Since
God created man, all men must someday answer to God.
Who Is Man?
Man
is a sinner. Although God created man for His glory, “All have
sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans
3:23. Since
man is a sinner, he needs salvation from
the guilt, power and penalty of sin.
Why is man helpless?
The
Bible teaches that since we are sinners, we are unable to save
ourselves. Yet history proves man continues to pursue five basic
attempts to save himself.
- By being a good moral person (Isaiah 64:6).
- By being involved in a church, a religious organization, or a traditional religious practice (Ephesians
2:8-9).
- By worshipping something. Man often worships the creation rather than the Creator. He may worship the sun, stars, statues, other men, animals, birds or materialism
(Romans 1:22-25).
- By trying to reach God through meditating or emotional feelings, or the influence of drugs (John 14:6).
- By believing that he himself will become a god (1 Timothy
2:5).
Man is helpless because all of these attempts
do not remove the fact that man is still a sinner and faces the judgment
of a Holy God.
What is God's Answer?
“For by grace you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God” Ephesians
2:8. “The wages
of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord” Romans
6:23. “For God
so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John
3:16.
“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our
behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” . II
Corinthians 5:21.
Jesus
died for you. You can receive His free gift of salvation by asking Him
for forgiveness from your sins. If you are willing to repent of your
sin, He is waiting to forgive you. It doesn't
matter what you have done
in the past, if you cry out to Jesus for forgiveness, He will not reject
you. The word "repent" literally means "to turn away
from." You need to look at your life, admit that you are a sinner,
genuinely desire to turn your back on that sin, and ask Him to forgive
you. If you do this, He promises to forgive you. The Bible says in
Romans 10:9-13
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in
your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; 10 for
with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the
mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says,
"WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." 12 For
there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord
of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him; 13 for
"WHOEVER WILL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD will be saved."
Will you
call on Him now? Jesus is everywhere all the time. He can hear you now
if you ask Him for forgiveness. Please turn your life over to Him now.
Time slips by so quickly, don't miss this opportunity. If you want to
pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, you can say a prayer something
like this:
"Jesus,
I know that I have sinned against you. I know the truth is that I have
sinned by my own choice, and I am the one responsible for it. I know
that I have earned punishment from You, and that the fair punishment
would be death. Jesus, I believe that You died in my place. Forgive me
for my sin. I cannot cover or take my sin away, I am relying totally and
only on You. You are the only one who can save me. I reject my sin, I
turn away from it, I repent. Come into my life, take away my sin, and
show me how to live my life in a way that is right and pleasing to
You."
If you
have prayed and truly meant what you have confessed, we would like to
talk with you!
It is
important for you to start to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Just
like any relationship, you need to spend time with someone if you want
to know them well. The way to know God is through the Bible. We have a
few different Bible studies here that will help you get going. It's also
important to find a church you can attend where they teach the Bible.
This will allow you to talk with a pastor who will help explain
questions you might have, and it will give you a chance to spend time
with other Christians who can encourage you. We would love to hear
from you so we can rejoice with you in sending you a New Believers
Bible Study Booklet.
